The International Banana Museum in Mecca, California #travel
Yes, you read correctly.  Jesse and I visited the International Banana Museum.  After spending years traveling with his 8' stuffed banana, rightfully named Banana (it's a She), we felt it only necessary to stop by the International Banana Museum on our trip through the Salton Sea.

Located in Mecca, California, the International Banana Museum can be found right off the CA-111 and can be found by the large Banana robot statue outside of the small building that houses the museum.  With over 17,000 banana related items, this museum holds the Guinness World Record for largest banana collection.  It is free to visit; however, they kindly request $1 if you want to take pictures and don't plan to purchase anything.  You can sit at the small bar and get a banana split or any number of different types of banana related shakes during your visit.  Some items like t-shirts and stuffed bananas are available for purchase as well.  If you plan to visit the Salton Sea or are driving through this part of California, this is a unique experience you won't want to miss!
